The Master of Arts in English addresses the needs of students who desire to deepen their knowledge of literature and writing.

The MA in English is particularly suitable for students who wish to go on to doctoral work, pursue professional training of various kinds, or to engage in other creative activities. It is open to students with an undergraduate major in English, 文科背景, or a teacher education degree.

The 30-credit MA program in English can typic所有y be completed within two to three years. At least 50% of your course credits must be at the 6000 level, not including six thesis credits. You will have the option of completing either a thesis or a creative thesis.

论文: An extensive and detailed analysis of an approved topic in the area of English literature, 美国文学, 文学批评, 作文, 修辞, or other appropriate subject presented in a form suitable for publication. The subject of the thesis must be approved by the advisor and the English graduate committee before the student may begin research.

创意的论文: The thesis may be a creative project for which a recommendation from the English graduate committee is required. The creative thesis is an option for the Master of Arts in English.

  • Other information you would like the English department to consider regarding your application
